About Us

Tikur Anbessa Hospital is a tertiary governmental hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, established in 1964. It is a main
teaching hospital for both preclinical and clinical training of most disciplines in the School of Medicine of Addis Ababa
University. It offers specialized clinical service that is no compiled with both the public and private medical institutions in
Ethiopia. The hospital bed capacity is about 600 and provide services for Cardiac, Hematology, Orthopedic, Ontological,
Renal, Urological, Gastrointestinal, ENT, Endocrinology, Emergency, Infectious, and Chest patients for both pediatrics
and adults.
From several units it have, Adult Emergency is the most challenging unit in which various emergency patients such as;
cardiac patients, hypertensive emergency patients, stroke patients, asthmatic patients, DKA patients, Seizure disorder
patients, Road Traffic Accident patients, Renal emergency patients, Hematologic emergency patients, Pneumonia patients,
Gastrointestinal emergency patients, Stab injury patients, gun shooting patients etc..have been frequently visiting and seen
in this unit. This area is the most challenging and needs strong adaptability to the overwhelming changing of the setting
and patient needs.
