Three Q Perms & Temps are recruiting on behalf of our client; a well-established orthopaedic hospital in north Dublin. They are looking for a Risk Management Officer to join their team. The purpose of this post is to support the design and delivery of a robust quality, risk and patient safety framework encompassing areas of incident and risk management, quality
assurance and improvement. The Risk Manager will develop effective and credible
working relationships within the directorates and departments across the hospital that
positively influences patient and staff experience. Hours are full-time & Salary is DOE.

Job Title: Risk Management Officer Location: Dublin Salary: DOE Shifts: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • To support the design and delivery of a robust quality, risk and patient safety management framework encompassing incident and risk management, quality assurance and improvement.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards for Better Healthcare 2012 as they apply to the role, for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc. and any other appropriate national standards.
  • Take a lead role in an assigned area appropriate to the role and deliver on the performance in that area
  • In conjunction with the risk management team and in collaboration with the hospital’s senior management team and all clinical stakeholders, support improvement in service that enhances patient safety.
  • To provide management information and reports on QPS related matters as appropriate and such other reports as may be required for the the EMT and the Chief executive Officer regarding performance metrics, data analytics, data management and interpretation.
  • Demonstrate pro-active commitment to all communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Have good knowledge of the current medico legal legislation (including coroner’s cases) process in Ireland pertaining to aspects of Patient Services, Employers Liability and Health and Safety issues and in particular the Patient Safety (Notifiable Patient Safety Incidents) Act 2019, pending.
  • Have a good understanding of ethical practice in healthcare as well as the Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Act (2015).
  • Prepare for and represent the Hospital in the management of coroner’s cases.
  • Leading, training, mentoring, participating and carrying out root cause analysis/ incident reviews.
  • Promote a culture of dignity, respect and fairness and seek to eliminate all forms of discrimination.
  • Contribute to existing Hospital policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure they comply with best practice, as required, and advice of new/improved procedures/updated legislation, where appropriate.
  • Participate in project management as required.

Requirements

  • An academic award at Level 7 or higher on the NFQ framework standard in Risk Management/Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • A clinical qualification with 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience of data measurement analysis and production of high-quality reports.
  • A proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Power Point and Excel: Competency in general use of information technology computers, office functions, internet for research purposes, email, preparation of presentation materials, etc.
  • Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word.
  • Masters in a relevant field desirable
  • Critical analysis and decision making skills
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Planning, organising, and administration skills
  • Must be willing to undergo Garda vetting
